Problematic internet use and young adult mental health

This article attempts to provide an insight into the phenomenon of problematic internet use in the context of its possible links to other mental health problems. The aim of the pilot study presented here was to examine whether there is a relationship between feelings of being addicted to the Internet and the occurrence of symptoms of depression, anxiety and stress in young adults. The study, which involved 117 students from 3 universities, used the author's questionnaire and a shortened version of the Depression, Anxiety and Stress Scale (DASS-21). The study indicated worryingly high levels of feelings of depression, anxiety and stress in the group of respondents, as well as a link between it and the declaration of internet addiction.
