Professor Jerzy Gaj (1929–2016). Outstanding historian of physical culture

Abstract

This publication came at the initiative of his students. It is dedicated to Professor Jerzy Gaj, an outstanding scholar in the field of physical culture history, an academic teacher, a physical culture activist. His contribution to the dissemination of the most recent history of physical education and sport, and, in the recent period, tourism as well, was remarkable. Professor Jerzy Gaj was the creator of the Summer School of Physical Culture Historians in Poland. His participation in the educational, scientific and editorial processes of numerous publications, reviews and scientific opinions was of invaluable significance for the development of the history of physical culture. It is evidenced by widespread recognition and numerous distinctions granted to the Professor.
