Abstract
In the years 1976–1988 summer Olympic Games were held four times (Montreal – 1976, Moscow – 1980, Los Angeles – 1984, Seoul – 1988). The Polish national team in this period participated in the Olympic Games only three times. With the decision of the Board of the Polish Olympic Committee, Poland was not entered for start in the 23rd summer Olympic Games in Los Angeles. In the period discussed, representatives of the Association of Rural Sports Teams during their Olympics starts won five silver medals: in Montreal – Ryszard Podlas, athletics (4 ×400 m relay), Stanisław Szozda, road cycling (team time trial); in Moscow – Janusz Bobik together with Władysław Hartman, horse riding (team obstacle jumping competition); in Seoul – Andrzej Głąb, classic style wrestling (cat. 48 kg); Joachim Halupczok with Zenon Jaskuła, road cycling (team time trial).
