Ritual – from Cultural Anthropology to Transactional Analysis

In the first part of the article the traditional meaning of the ritual is analysed. Then, the ritual is presented in the light of transactional analysis. Finally, the author discusses similarities and differ- ences in different concepts of the ritual. The article does not attempt to address the complexity of this concept; its aim is to contribute to the discussion on the interdisciplinary nature of transaction-al analysis. The author’s aim is to exemplify the possibilities of applying this theory in humanitiesand social sciences.
