The article is devoted to the existence and activity of the Silesian Autonomy Movement (SAM) in the context of the current situation within European regional states. The aim of the article is to present some actions taken by the autonomous SAM operating in Poland, in particular its will to restore the Autonomy of Upper Silesia, best known from the interwar period. The functioning and demands of the society were compared with the incidents on the international arena, in particular within the EU regional states, struggling with the activities of movements with a similar profile. By analogy, the risk generated by the SAM for the Polish state stability and the potential impact of its initiatives and support for the separatist activities (among others in Catalonia and Scotland ) were indicated.
