ageing, old age, old man, psychoanalysis, transactional analysisAbstract
The article discusses ageing, old age and an old man from the perspective of psychoanalysis and transactional analysis as well as one more important element, Senior (S) or Elder (E), who will complement the Parent–Adult–Child trio (PAC), a newly proposed extension of Eric Berne’sstructural diagram of personality. The paper ends with a significant conclusion that psychoanalysis has shown to an elderly man unknown dimensions and mechanisms of his personality. It indicates how to confront the ageing process and own fate.
