Critical infrastructure in Poland and the threats of it – selected examples

Critical infrastructure is a set of elements essential for the efficient functioning of the state, both in times of peace and during crises. As a result, elements of critical infrastructure become targets of attacks by criminals and foreign intelligence services as part of hybrid warfare. The war in Ukraine also demonstrates that critical infrastructure is a significant target during armed con-flict. One of the key responsibilities of the state in the area of critical infrastructure is the effective management and protection of its components. This article presents selected elements of critical infrastructure in Poland, primarily energy infrastructure, transport infrastructure, and cyber infra-structure. It also discusses examples of attacks on critical infrastructure components and issues related to their protection.
