Ethical rules of publication

The journal adopts and applies the principles of publishing ethics in accordance with the guidelines of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).

Publication ethics 

  1. Publication and authorship

    1. Only original texts are published and they must be consistent with the journal's profile, presenting the results of studies not previously available in any other publishing house, against which the authors have full rights.

    2. The authors declare that the text they have sent is their own work that has never been published before, or submitted for publication in another journal.

      1. Each author attaches to the application a statement of the originality of the work submitted for printing.

      2. In the case of articles prepared by several authors, they are required to disclose the contribution of individual persons to the creation of the document and to complete the relevant declaration on direct participation. All cases of unfair practices are exposed and disclosed to the public, as well as reported to relevant entities.

    3. By submitting a text to Podstawy Edukacji, the authors (or one of the authors selected on behalf of the others) declare that they agree with the basic principles contained in the journal.

    4. The Editorial Board obliges the Authors to provide information on the sources of funding for publications, the contribution of scientific and research institutions, associations and other entities. It is recommended to put this information in the "Acknowledgments" section.

    5. Copyright for papers and articles published in this journal is retained by the authors, with first publication rights granted to the Jan Długosz University. It is a condition of publication that authors license their paper or article under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0).

    6. The authors are asked to provide basic personal data: name, surname, title, place of work and address, telephone or fax number, e-mail. 

    7. Received articles are registered.

    8. The authors are informed about the editorial decision to publish or not publish the specific text just after the review process.

  2. Editorial responsibilities

    1. The editors of the journal follow the principles of justice, diligence, integrity and impartiality.

    2. The members of the Editorial Board are responsible for the quality, development and improvement of Podstawy Edukacji.

    3. The Editorial Board should make every effort to publish the journal without delay.

    4. The Chief Editor of the journal must organize the review process so that there is no conflict of interest for those involved in the evaluation of the text sent.

    5. The Chief Editor and other editors should respect the intellectual independence of the authors.

    6. Before submitting received articles for review, the Chief Editor in consultation with Thematic Editors should impartially analyze them and assess their compliance with the journal's profile, assess the level of preparation and check whether it meets the main technical requirements. In the event that the initial assessment is negative, the articles shall be returned to the Authors with appropriate notification.

    7. The Statistical Editor is responsible for analyzing the articles submitted to the Podstawy Edukacjifor the correct application of statistical methods. 

    8. Editors must keep the review process confidential. They may not disclose to third parties materials received for review or correspondence with the Reviewer about the reviewed article.

    9. After receiving the revised articles and responses to review comments in writing, the Editorial Board may, if necessary, again ask reviewers to assess the authors' corrections and responses, and then make the final decision on submitting the article for publication.

    10. The Editorial Board use all available means to prevent plagiarism and publication of false data.

    11. Publishers and editors always publish corrections, clarifications, retractions and apologies when needed.

  3. Obligations of authors

    1. The authors of the articles must confirm that the submitted work is original and that it has been prepared by the authors indicated therein.

    2. The authors are obliged to accept full responsibility for the content of their work.

    3. The Authors are required to present the results of their own research in a clear, honest manner and without falsifying or manipulating the data.

    4. The Authors ensure that the articles they submit do not contain personal criticism of other scientists.

    5. The Authors ensure that all persons listed as authors make a significant contribution to the work and the manuscript and that all who were involved in the work and preparation of the manuscript have been listed.

    6. If the article has been prepared by several authors, then the author submitting the article for publication is considered the first and main author (corresponding author). He undertakes to present the other authors with the applicable rules and keep in touch with the Editorial Board of the journal Podstawy Edukacji.

    7. The corresponding author signs the Agreement on the transfer of copyrights on behalf of all authors. Any changes to the authorship after the first submission must be approved by all Authors and explained to the Editor.

    8. The Authors must amend the articles accepted for publication, taking into account the comments received in the reviews, or provide a reasoned explanation in writing why the comments have not been included.

    9. If the Authors learn that there are some inaccuracies and serious errors in the published article, they must inform the Editor of the journal and make joint efforts to make corrections and amendments.

    10. The Authors give the journal publisher the right to unrestricted publication of the article in open access.

  4. Responsibility of reviewers

    1. Each article sent to the editorial board of the journal Podstawy Edukacji is reviewed by two anonymous reviewers. The review process uses a double-blind review procedure, i.e. the identity of reviewers and authors is not revealed. Detailed guidelines on the review process are discussed in the Rules for Reviewing section.

    2. Reviewer's comments should be impartial and critical. However, criticism should be constructive. Reviewers are encouraged to avoid cynical comments directed to the author(s). Comments should be formulated in a legible way, enabling the author to understand what actions he must take to improve the quality of the article. Reviewers are encouraged to provide detailed comments and remarks.

    3. Reviewers must report any conflicts of interest by informing the Editorial Board.

    4. Reviewers should not undertake to review articles that they believe would not be able to be assessed objectively and fairly.

    5. Reviewers are encouraged to carefully assess not only the level of the submitted scientific text, but also compliance with the profile of the journal Podstawy Edukacji and pay attention to the sources of scientific information cited in the article.

    6. Reviewers must inform the editorial board about cases of similarity of the text or its fragments to other publications whose authors have not been indicated in the text.

    7. Reviewers must keep the review process confidential. They may not disclose to unauthorized persons materials received for review or correspondence with the Editorial Board regarding the reviewed article.

    8. Reviewers should make every effort to complete the review in time.

  5. The rights of authors

The terms relating to copyright are indicated in the Copyright and Related Rights Act - Journal of Laws of 1994 No. 24 item 83, the Act of 4 February 1994 on copyright and related rights, Journal of Laws of 2019, item 1231.

  1. Statement on Personal Data Protection

Personal data and email addresses provided to the journal will be used only in accordance with the declared purpose - to publish the article in the Podstawy Edukacji in open access, based on the regulation on personal data protection (RODO): Regulation of the European Parliament and the Council of the European Union 2016/679 of 27 April 2016 on the protection of individuals with regard to the processing of personal data and on the free movement of such data and repealing the Directive 95/46 / EC (Journal of Laws of the EU, 2016, No. 119, item 1); Act of 10 May 2018 on the protection of personal data (Journal of Laws of 2018, item 1000).
