The importance of vocation and passion for duty in the teaching profession

This article examines issues such as vocation, passion and duties, which constitute the essence of everyday school life. The quintessence of the considerations is the correlation between voca-tion and passion, because these are mutually complementary constructs that only when combined create the essence of teaching, but also an effective tool for facing the challenges, difficulties, and multiplicity of duties that a teacher faces. Moreover, vocation and passion are areas indicating full commitment and awareness of the mission, while enabling professional and reliable implementa-tion of basic duties, i.e. caring, teaching and upbringing, regardless of the constant changes taking place in every area of life, especially educational. A teacher with a vocation and passion does not perceive his duties in the context of institutional work alone, but as a source of personal and pro-fessional fulfillment.
