Abstract

The classical music festival held in London since 1895, known as The Proms is sometimes re- ferred to as the largest and most democratic musical festival (J. Bělohlávek). It is a unique attrac- tion for tourists visiting London during the summer months, providing at the same time an oppor- tunity to get acquainted with various works of classical music presented by world-class performers.

The repertoire of the festival – since the first edition until today – includes Polish music. Polish artists often joined the bunch of its performers. The focus of the text is on the Polish contribution to The Proms festival – both from the perspective of Polish repertoire, as well as the participation of the Polish performers. It is the result of the analysis of the abundant archival materials related to the event.
