Abstract

The identity is notion, which makes some problems with define them. A lot of scientists present diversified conceptions. They pay attention to particular aspects of identity, as cultural identity, national identity, individual and group identity. The purpose of this paper is description of chosen problems and opinions regarding identity, which are in Polish literature. This opinions was chosen, which are connected with social science, especially with political science, because presentation so broad problems is not possible in one paper. Particular aspects of identity was characterized in succesive parts this thesis, commencing from cultural identity. Important question is distinction between individual identity, connected with a person, and group identity, connected with a social group. Currently, connections of identity with globalization and migrations are very relevant, because this processes have an effect on conversions of identities in citizens of current states and open up new conditions to
exist of nation states. In this states appear groups, which are diversified by ethnic, language or religion. This diversity occur in frontiers, which on the one hand are geographical area, on the other hand have symbolic nature when penetration of culture coincide in indefinite social area. When in one state the identity is diversified, inner safety of citizens is at stake. Therefore some states took federal or regional system, which emphasize cultural differences and enable maintenance of stability and safety in state.
