Abstract

The national composition of the Piarists school students certainly depended on the educational unit location. Based on the survived manuscript students catalogues, I determined that apart from the Polish, there were also Slovak, Ruthenian, Hungarian and German students. In the Commonwealth, not only Catholic but also Orthodox and Protestant students were in the Piarists’ schools. Although the Piarists ran religious education, they did not compel the youth to convert to Catholicism, as confirmed in the archive materials available in the archives of Rome.
