The inclusion of spirituality in human development is the very important problem because only spiritually developed man can achieve full of his/her abilities. Spiritual development enables an existential view of our lives. This life ceases to be limited to satisfying material needs and entertainment, although these elements considered as success and happiness in our culture. Thanks to the development of the spiritual aspect, man perceives his life as meaningful, having a purpose, feels a sense of fulfillment in life. Unfortunately, spirituality is treated in a marginal way in modern education. The multitude of possibilities to define this concept is accountable for this situation. Only when we analyze the various trends of spirituality, we may construct a model of spirituality which will be used in a system of schools. This model should be composed of those elements that would be common for students and enable their development in this area. In connection with these assumptions, the author analyzes the notion of traditional spirituality related to religious tradition and then she wonders which aspects of this approach to spirituality are possible to apply in the conditions of secular, non-religious schools.
