NEW SUBMISSION GUIDELINESS WITH NEW REFERENCE FORMATTING STYLE

Before submitting your manuscript, please ensure that:

You have read the Aim and Scope of the journal and that your article fits the journal's theme.
A separate file containing the first page has been prepared (with included ethics statement, delaration of interest and funding).
A separate file containing a blinded manuscript with continuous line numbering and references formatted according to the APA 7th edition guidelines has been prepared (does not apply to the humanities part).
A separate file containing the cover letter has been prepared.
All authors have approved the content of the submitted manuscript.

GENERAL INFORMATION

Article types

Sport and Tourism Central European Journal (STCEJ) has no restrictions on the length of the manuscripts, provided that the text is concise and comprehensive. Manuscripts submitted to STCEJ should not have been previously published or considered for publication in another journal. The main types of articles are as follows:

Articles: journal considers all original research papers, provided that the paper presents scientifically valid experiments and provides a substantial amount of new information, such as original experimental papers, intervention and observational studies, and humanistic studies with defined methodology.

Review articles: articles that provide concise updates on recent advances made in a particular area of research, such as polemical articles and systematic reviews of the literature (following PRISMA guidelines) and meta-analyses.

Language requirements

Beginning with the 1st issue in 2021, the journal is mainly published in English. Therefore, please submit future article submissions in English. Both British and American spelling are accepted as long as the spelling in question is used consistently throughout the text. Authors whose native language is not English are strongly advised to proofread their work linguistically before submission. Papers with serious deficiencies in English may be returned to the authors without review.

Thematic structure of the journal

STCEJ operates at the intersection of several disciplines. Each year, about half of the articles are from the humanistic foundations of physical culture and the history of physical culture. The remaining 50% of the articles are publications from the health sciences, social sciences and pedagogy.

Due to the mixed nature of the journal, it is divided into the following sections:

History of physical culture and tourism
Theory and methodology of physical education and sport sciences
Determinants of health, pro-health attitudes, quality of Life
Tourism and recreation
Biographies, discussions, polemics, review of publications, reports

Publication fees

The journal does not charge any publication fees.

MANUSCRIPT PREPARATION

Manuscript submission and corresponding author

To submit a manuscript, please register and log in to the manuscript submission page. The corresponding author is responsible for the manuscript during the submission and review process. He or she should ensure that all coauthors are listed as authors and that they have read and approved the submitted version of the manuscript.

Structure and text formatting

A blinded manuscript should consist of the following sections: title in English and Polish, abstract in English and Polish, keywords in English and Polish, introduction, methods, results, discussion, summary, and references. The different levels of headings are not numbered; the first level is in bold, the second level is in italics, and the other levels are written without specific formatting.

The authors should prepare the following three article files:

A file containing the first page of the article with included statements (see below).
A file containing the blinded article (article without the first page and authors' data). Continuous line numbering was used in the blinded version of the manuscript.
Cover letter

We recommend preparing the manuscript using Microsoft Word (.doc or .docx). The document should be written in A4 size standard typescript (margins: 25mm). It is recommended to use Times New Roman typeface, 11 points, with a 1.5 line spacing.

First page

The authors should include the following on the first page:

Names of authors
Degree or academic title of all authors
Affiliation of all authors (formatted according to the formula: department/institute, university, city, country).
Corresponding author's e-mail address
ORCID number of all authors (Open Researcher and Contributor ID, see: https://orcid.org/)
Title of the article (both in Polish and English)
Abstract (both in Polish and English)
Keywords (both in Polish and English)
Ethic statement (if study involved human or animal participants), Delaration of Conflicting Interest statement, and Funding statement. This information should not be included in a blinded manuscript.

Preparation of the abstract and keywords

The abstract should not exceed 200 words. The abstract should be prepared in a structured manner, defining the introduction and purpose of the paper, the methods used, the summary of the results, and the conclusions, but without listed headings.

The authors should define to 3-7 keywords. Keywords deepen text accessibility for information systems. It is not recommended that they explicitly duplicate phrases used in the title and abstract of an article.

Tables and figures

Tables and illustrative materials (figures, charts, and photographs) should be inserted after the literature in a blinded manuscript and described accurately. Mark the places of their insertion in the text with the phrase "Insert Table 1". The font size of the table is nine points. No table formatting other than that of the grid shall be used. The title should be placed above the table. Footnotes on the table are placed directly below. All abbreviations used in the table should be explained below the table according to the following formula: "CI: Confidence Interval." Each table should be announced in the text (e.g., Table 1 presents..., Table 2 illustrates...). The phrases "in the following/above table" are not used.

Figures are recommended to be prepared using Microsoft Office programs (Excel, Microsoft Graph). The number and title of the graph shall be written under the figure. The minimum resolution of the graphs and illustrations is 600 dpi.

If figures, tables, etc., from studies published in other journals or book publications are included in the paper, the author is required to obtain permission for their use and to cite the source under the figure.

References

References should appear at the end of the article in alphabetical order (bibliographic items are not numbered). Each cited source should appear in the reference list. Similarly, each entry in the reference list should be cited in the text. The guidelines for formatting the bibliography differ slightly in the first section (History of physical culture and tourism).

First section (History of physical culture and tourism)

A list of references should be prepared alphabetically (reference items are not numbered).

In-text citations and a list of references should be formatted in APA 7th style. References should be listed at the end of the article in alphabetical order (bibliography items are not numbered).

Works in non-English languages and non-English scripts, such as Cyrillic, Arabic or Chinese

If you use the original version of a non-English work, cite the original version. Non-Latin alphabets are not used in the reference list in APA Style, so the title needs to be transliterated (that is, converted to the alphabet you are using to write a paper), and then followed by an English translation, in brackets.
