Photographs in the resources of the State Archives in Częstochowa – taking over, storage, causes of destruction

Abstract

The statment contains informations about the presence of photography documentation in National Archive in Częstochowa.

Photographs in a figure of single pictures or their groups made by artists, photographers and photojournalists as well as private institutions (photo agencies), state organizational units (offices, industrial factories, educational and cultural institutions) are selected on the basis of particular criteria in order to ensure perpetual storage by National Archives.

Due to its sensitive and delicate character this documentation is especially exposed on bad influence of external factors, which can cause irreversible process of destruction.  

As a consequence the role of ensuring the right conditions of use and storage is essential in order to secure this materials for the future generations.
