The Polish circle of enthusiasts of photography in reference to an issue of preservation of their own artistic legacy

Abstract

A long-standing problem of Polish photographers is the preservation of their artistic legacy. Despite owned knowledge and actions taken already at the end of the nineteenth century, and then in the interwar period and after 1945, it is difficult to recognize the current situation as ensuring to secure the achievements of numerous creators. Presenting examples of undertaken actions, it has also been shown the latest initiative of academic circles of historians and photography didactics, which is the establishment of the National Center for Photography.
