Photographic collections stored in the Library and Archives of the Academy of Fine Arts in Gdańsk, and what next?

Abstract

A photography is a product of material culture and therefore requires proper protection. The Library and Archives of the Academy of Fine Arts in Gdańsk have digital and classical photography in their collections. One of the forms of protection of negatives and positives is their digitization. The databases created as a result of digital records should also be secured, not forgetting that collections are a common good and should be available to a wider audience. The Internet is an ideal tool for distributing collections. The examples of projects carried out by the employees of the Library and the Archives of the Academy of Fine Arts in Gdańsk show how the available resources can be used.
