Invitation to publish

Dear Sirs,

Thanks to the cooperation and solidarity of the Polish language community, we managed to publish the first issue of the journal "Czytanie Dwudziestolecia" for 2024. We hope that our journal will arouse your interest and support. While preparing the second issue, we invite you to submit articles, reviews, and sketches on the interwar culture and on the work of writers from the Interwar Period.

Encouraging you to participate in the publication, we would like to remind you that by decision of the Sejm of the Republic of Poland, the patrons of 2025 are such artists as Stefan Żeromski and Antoni Słonimski, who left a significant mark on the literature and culture of the interwar period. Żeromski's novel Przedwiośnie (1924) is one of the first diagnoses of social life in an independent country. Słonimski, who called in one of his first volumes for a confrontation of Polish culture from the partition period with contemporary times, was also a publicist and chronicler of the interwar period. His rich oeuvre encompasses all literary genres, including dramatic works and reviewing work. This year also marks the "round" anniversaries of the deaths of writers such as Maria Dąbrowska, Jarosław Iwaszkiewicz, Maria Pawlikowska-Jasnorzewska, Julian Przyboś, Wacław Sieroszewski, Jerzy Szaniawski, as well as the anniversaries of the births of, among others, Konstanty Ildefons Gałczyński, Juliusz Kaden-Bandrowski, Zofia Kossak, Stanisław Ignacy Witkiewicz (Witkacy). The list of names alone shows how important the Interwar Period was in Polish literature, encompassing and integrating various worldviews, literary types and genres, and forms of artistic expression. We are waiting for your articles until May 31st.

In the second issue, we also plan to create a Varia section, in which we will publish texts on Polish literature from various eras and literary periods. We kindly ask you to submit reports from conferences held in research centres and devoted to the Interwar Period and its creators. Information about books on the Interwar Period published in the national community is important to us. We strive to create a platform informing about the directions of research on the Interwar Period.

We hope that thanks to your involvement and help we will be able to create an ambitious journal, which we hope will eventually gain recognition in research centres. It is not yet on the ministerial list, but we are doing everything to obtain such important points for us. We will not take the next step without further support from researchers dealing with the broadly understood culture of the Interwar Period.
