Abstract

The article Irony, end of the word and authority. About Witold Gombrowicz’s “Premeditated crime” is an interpretation of the prewar novel, written by the author of Ferdydurke. The context of the reading is the category of the irony, that is treated in the historical-cultural order. The destructive-creative potential of this communication’s category, used by Gombrowicz, show, how the ironical subject is involved in the political reality. The goal of this activity ist the authority and the establishing of rules in the nominalistic world.

Marcin Całbecki – born in 1977 in Bydgoszcz. Doctor habilitatus, university professor at the Department of the History of Polish Literature at the University of Gdańsk. Author of five monographs and several dozen scholarly articles.
