From the press archives
The section recalls the role and significance of the interwar press.
We can still find many interesting literary and journalistic texts here that were not included in book publications either during the Interwar Period or after 1939, even though they may inspire current academic discourse as well. Among other things, we present important interviews with interwar authors and various thematic surveys, which were particularly favored by the interwar press. The materials and their editorial preparation are subject to a review process.
Reviews
This section contains reviews of scholarly works devoted to the interwar period and to authors associated with that cultural formation.
The reviews are written by researchers specializing in 20th-century literature and culture. Information about newly published works, along with thorough discussion and evaluation, has always been an important element in the exchange of ideas and scholarly experience.
Content published in this section is subject to peer review.
Reports
This section features submitted information about academic life at Polish and international research institutions.
We also report on scholarly events organized by the Institute of Literary Studies at UJD. The section is intended to serve a chronicle-like function, recording important conferences, academic festivals, and other initiatives, including those that promote research on the interwar period. One possible format is the publication of conference programs, which can help illustrate current research directions and the topics being explored. This seems to be an important factor in fostering collaboration between academic centers. Due to the primarily informational nature of this content, the materials published here are not subject to peer review.
Conversations
This section is dedicated to publishing interviews with researchers specializing in the interwar period, as well as their reflections on various aspects of that era (literature, theater, film, visual arts).
We also aim to publish the perspectives and reflections of museum professionals, library and archive directors—representatives of all cultural institutions that contribute to preserving the heritage and memory of individuals who shaped the broadly understood cultural formation of the interwar period. Valuable contributions may also include personal recollections about interwar artists or scholars studying this period. Authors of popular books about cultural figures of the time are likewise welcome to submit essays or sketches. These materials offer an important point of reference even for strictly academic approaches. Content published in this section is not subject to peer review.
