Abstract

The study examines the growing presence of generative artificial intelligence in education and focuses on teachers' perceptions of ChatGPT as a support tool in the teaching and learning process. The development of AI is transforming teaching practices by enabling content personalisation, the creation of educational materials, and more efficient lesson preparation; at the same time, it raises questions about the reliability of generated content, ethical considerations, and teachers' digital competencies. In the context of the specific characteristics of the Polish education system—an ageing workforce, the feminisation of the profession, and the outflow of young teachers—the implementation of technological innovations may be uneven. The study aims to explore teachers’ familiarity with ChatGPT, its use in their daily practice, and the barriers and concerns associated with its adoption. The findings contribute to the discussion on the responsible integration of AI in education and indicate directions for teachers’ professional development.
