The Journal uses two citation and reference systems, depending on the type and disciplinary profile of the manuscript:

manuscripts in the field of history of physical culture and tourism should use the Journal's humanities citation style based on footnotes and an alphabetical bibliography;
all other manuscripts should follow the APA 7th edition citation and reference style.

Authors should use the applicable system consistently throughout the manuscript.

1. History of Physical Culture and Tourism

Manuscripts in the field of history of physical culture and tourism should use footnotes for source citations and include a separate alphabetical bibliography at the end of the manuscript.

Footnotes

Footnotes should provide sufficient bibliographic information to allow the cited source to be clearly identified. Page numbers should be provided where reference is made to a specific passage.

For the first citation of a source, full bibliographic information should be provided. Subsequent citations may use the author's surname, a shortened title, and the relevant page number.

Bibliography

The bibliography should be arranged alphabetically by the surname of the first author and should not be numbered.

Authors using archival materials or other types of historical sources should provide sufficient information to allow the source to be identified and located.

2. Other Manuscripts – APA 7th Edition

All manuscripts not using the humanities citation system described above should follow the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association, 7th edition (APA 7).

In-text citations

References should be cited in the text using the author–date system.

For direct quotations, the relevant page number should also be provided.

Reference list

The reference list should:

appear at the end of the manuscript;
be arranged alphabetically by the surname of the first author;
not be numbered;
include every source cited in the text;
contain only sources cited in the manuscript.

Authors are responsible for the accuracy and completeness of all references.

For source types not illustrated above, authors should follow the rules of APA 7th edition and consult the Journal's detailed reference guidelines .

DOI and URLs

A DOI should be provided whenever available and presented as an active URL in the following format:

https://doi.org/10.xxxx/xxxxx

Older DOI formats such as doi:10... or http://dx.doi.org/... should not be used.

URLs should be provided where required by the applicable citation style. Shortened URLs should be avoided when a stable original URL is available.
